Greetings from the New England Kannada Koota Committee to all its Mandaara members. Our heartfelt thanks to everyone for making our second event a big success! The recent Children's Day, Deepavali & Rajyotsava Celebration was a big hit, thanks in aratedgreat part to the 550 people that attended and yes; we are happy to say we had a tremendous turnout!
We would like to thank all the dedicated parents, talented & enthusiastic children without whose effort this event would not be possible. We also appreciate the interest parents have taken in travelling several miles each day in their busy schedules and getting their kids into practice & helping choreograph various art forms.

We also salute the guidance given by various teachers and also their enthusiasm in working with kids and helping to bring the best out of each particpant. Everyone felt the performers on stage excelled all the expectations & the Mandaara community is very proud of this fact. As we all know and understand, participation with enthusiasm is as good as winning but, many as in everything that can be judged, We congratulate all the winners!

Our many thanks also to the teen volunteers who worked with the kind of enthusiasm that makes us feel proud being part of such a rich & enthusiastic community. We would also like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of all the committees during the past month to make this event happen. We want to take this moment and thank the committee members without whose tireless none of this would be possible.

Entertainment committee has achieved the next mile stone for Koota by successfully conducting MGT, a grand Cultural show, which was well received and appreciated by the Koota community. The new format of voting kept the audience actively involved and evaluates the young talent of our community. We believe every participant's talent was honored and at the end of the day each child was a winner and each and every parent should proud. The fancy dress event, the GOP debate and the dance Masti were also big hit. All credit to the team that handled the mammoth task of handling events and co-ordinating.

Food Committee worked hard to serve everyone mouthwatering snacks and dinner. During the events, the delicious Vegetable puffs & Bajjis kept everyone munching on the snacks. Puris, Chana Masala, Korma, Biryani with Raita, Mosaranna, side of Pickle, Papad, and not to mention the mouth watering chakli & Badushah in a bowl. We would like to thank Pongal Restaurant for catering the food & Mrs. Ramaa Bhat for the yummy Chakli & Badushah.
The Reception team and Treasury was in early to setup Front desk, welcome members and participants with a big smile and membership renewal/verification of identity. We would like to announce that we have made record number of family membership this year and now we have a reachable audience of around 1000 and this is a record for our community.

Darpana Team worked tirelessly designing and publishing the News letter, which is now available at Darpana URL in PDF format to download. DarpanaTeam is also working to release e-darpana and integrating it with social networks like Facebook and twitter. Please become a member of NEKK facebook group and get involved in discussions on Kannada culture and other interesting topics.  Also visit nekk.org regularly for community news and events.

Also thanks to Basu Mudenur for sponsoring the cake and conducting kids quiz on Kannada
Jnanapeeta and Sahithya. Thanks to Ashok Jakatifor conducting kids essay competition.

Like we say @ Mandaara when one member of a family serves on a committee, the entire family gets involved in every part of the event. We want to therefore congratulate our own families as well.
Our teenagers at Mandaara readily jumped at the prospect of volunteering during the function. Their energy was limitless & their help is much appreciated. We also had first edition of ‘Teen time’, with teenagers presenting a very entertaining republican Presidential debate. This program was designed and presented by Mandaara teens and this will be a regular feature in future Mandaara programs.

An important note regarding Certificates given to kids at the event - we missed some of you during the Certificate & prize distribution. We would like to hand over the certificates. Please contact the entertainment committee ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) at your earliest convenience. Due to the vast number of participants, we were not able to take photos of every child with the intent to put them on the certificate. If you could do so yourself and send us in the photos, your child will have his/her photo on the certificate.

Our best wishes to all the families for the upcoming thanksgiving holiday. We will shortly start planning for the Purandara Dasa Day in February & also the Ugadi function in April. We are also planning for community service day to give back to our needy neighbors. Please watch for our emails. As always, we love to hear from you, especially after an event. All your feedback, positive & otherwise, are what help us strive for better ways to grow our organization. Email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
